London Loves: June 14

London Loves is back at the Albany on Saturday June 14 for our fourth birthday celebration. As it's the summer we'll be leading on Britpop (we'll also be celebrating the tenth anniversary of the release of Shed Seven's seminal and influental She Left Me on Friday - hell, we're only three months late for that one).

So come down to the Albany - 240 Great Portland Street, opposite the station - from 9pm until 2am. It's £3 for entry all night, and discounts may be given for any suitably well-worn Britpop t-shirts. Except for Northern Uproar, of course.

See you then!

LONDON LOVES: THIS SATURDAY AT THE ALBANY

With just a few days to go until our triumphant return, we're able to let you know about a very special guest.

MJ Hibbett is one of our favourite singers. He's guaranteed to leave you with a smile on your face and a warm, Ready Brek glow (visible from space) around your body. His songs deserve to be national anthems, and one day, when we are your benevolent dictators for life, they will be. If you've never seen him before, you're in for a treat.

"When it comes to observational pop music, few do it better than MJ Hibbett & The Validators" -- Steve Lamacq, Radio One

Listen here and here.

The plan is for him to go on stage at 10pm, so get down early! His will be a TOTALLY ACOUSTIC set, and audience participation CANNOT BE RULED OUT at this stage. The last MJ Hibbett gig featured a ukulele flash-mob, and we can't - indeed, don't want to - rule that out either. EXCITING!

We're looking forward to seeing you there. Please do get down for his set if you can, as if it goes well we'll try to make this* a regular part of the London Loves experience.

So that's London Loves, downstairs at the Albany (240 Great Portland Street). This Saturday, February 9, from 9pm until 2am. Entry is £3. Get down early for the remarkable MJ Hibbett.

*"This", as in: getting someone ace to play. We have some vague ideas up our collective sleeves...
